Wildflowers in full bloom!

The wildflower areas around the school are out in full bloom and the bees and butterflies are doing what they do best – pollinating.

The children have enjoyed looking at baby carrots just beginning to grow and then replanted them carefully in the vegetable bed. We also planted pepper plants into larger pots. We then identified the weeds amongst the potato plants and  dug them out so the potato plants could grow better.

Ladybird poppies inspire art...

Headlands Primary School

At Headlands Out of School Club our new flower bed has some new star performers in the Ladybird poppies. They make everyone smile and have already inspire some art and craft work. Lots of children have been inspired to draw or paint the poppies and yesterday we tried printing with them by pressing an hammering dropped petals. The effect was so good we will set up a full activity soon, with the Reception children leading it as they are already experts!

Year 2 have been working hard with their teacher, Mrs Farrington, on a pollinator display which reminds us of the wonderful work UK pollinators do.
